H. Day Chapin named as director of the Northwest Energy Technology Collaborative

Seattle, WA – September 5, 2002 – H. Day Chapin has been selected by the Washington Technology Center to lead the Pacific Northwest Energy Technology Collaborative (NWETC). The Collaborative, which was launched by Gov. Gary Locke in Spokane on August 21st, will bring together people with innovative energy solutions, companies, investors, utilities, government labs, and other organizations to create energy solutions for the future. Mr. Chapin has more than twenty years experience as an entrepreneur and executive in start-up and large companies including telecommunications, manufacturing, computer software, computer controls, and energy industries. Mr. Chapin was the founder and executive vice president of a full service packet communications company that raised over $48 million and rolled out an IP network covering 60 percent of the U.S. Previously, he led two technology companies specializing in energy engineering and energy product manufacturing. Mr. Chapin holds an MBA from Simon Fraser University, an MS in Engineering from Colorado State University, and a BS in Engineering from the University of Washington.

About the Northwest Energy Technology Collaborative The Northwest Energy Technology Collaborative is an agreement among Washington Technology Center, Avista Corporation, Bonneville Power Administration, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, and Spokane Intercollegiate Research and Technology Institute. The purpose of the NWETC is to accelerate the emergence and growth of the energy technology industry in the Pacific Northwest. The Collaborative is a joint effort of business, government, nonprofit, industry and educational institutions in the Pacific Northwest who share the common goal to position the Pacific Northwest region of the United States as a recognized leader for innovative research, education and product development for energy technology markets around the world.
