Northwest Energy Technology Showcase (NETS) 2004
Victoria Conference Centre
Victoria, British Columbia

A dozen of the best new energy technology companies in the Pacific Northwest presented their products at the first annual Northwest Energy Technology Showcase (NETS) on July 13, 2004 in Victoria, British Columbia. The NETS conference, an annual energy event, allowed emerging energy technology companies from the Pacific Northwest Region the opportunity to debut innovative products they are preparing to launch in the energy market. In the audience were key decision-makers from utilities, governments and industry from Western Canada and the U.S. Pacific Northwest.

NETS was the first part of a two-day series of events organized by NWETC. On July 14, early to mid-stage energy technology companies were invited to attend the "EnergyVenture Northwest Boot Camp." These companies were given the opportunity to present to an expert panel of venture firms and angel investors interested in funding this level of industry development.

NETS and the EnergyVenture Northwest Boot Camp provide an entrepreneurial and collaborative forum for new energy technology companies from the Pacific Northwest to tap into a global energy market.

"NWETC's commitment to the new energy industry and the Pacific Northwest is obvious. I found the participants to be very open and supportive in discussing solutions to overcoming barriers in the energy sector. Bringing industry leaders from the Pacific Northwest together to discuss energy solutions is an important step to creating a strong regional collaboration."

Geraldine Byrne, Mariah Energy, Calgary, AB (presenter)

"NWETC did an excellent job in conceiving and organizing the events in Victoria. The reverse engineering session with the utility representatives was outstanding, and provided valuable insight into the challenges of selling new technology to utilities."

Marc Ledbetter, PNNL, Richland, WA (presenter)

"I compliment you and your colleagues for the very organized and efficient manner in which NETS 2004 was conducted. I also appreciate the tangible 'hands-on' programming that you provide to companies who are new in the industry. Without such a supportive environment, I might not have had the experience of making an impromptu business plan presentation on my company to your panel of financiers/venture capitalists at the EnergyVenture Northwest Boot Camp. The feedback of the seasoned panel to my presentation was gratifying."
