The Northwest Energy Technology Collaborative (NWETC) annually selects from the region up to 12 companies representing the best and brightest new energy technology products for the new year. These companies must be based in the five northwest states of the United States: Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho and Montana, or the two western provinces of Canada: British Columbia and Alberta.

Previous NETS winners have gone on to great success. 2004 winner ReliOn, Inc and 2005 winner Prometheus Energy Company single handily took Pacific Northwest venture capital investing in energy to an eleven year high in the region this past year. Being selected as a NETS winner is becoming a barometer of future company success.

The NETS companies are decided by 4 criteria:

• Project/Technology Description and Implementation Plan
• Relevance and Justification for Project/Technology
• History of Company/Executives
• Concept of Project/Technology in the Market Place

NETS (created by NWETC in 2004) has proved to be a very successful initiative. Other NETS success stories include these cutting edge technology companies: 3Tier Technology Group Group, Aquaenergy Group , and Carmanah Technologies (BC)
